Imperial County’s Mesquite Mine Yields Much Gold
Published Jul 08, 2008

Nice haul: The Mesquite Mine in Imperial County is expected to produce 155,000 to 165,000 ounces of gold in 2008. That works out to a value of about $124 million to $132 million, assuming a price of $800 an ounce.

The mine is owned by Western Goldfields Inc., which is described as the only multimillion-ounce U.S. gold reserve not controlled by a major gold company.

The company’s operations are focused in the western United States.
